19 September – CleanUpDay: Let’s make a difference together!
As part of World Clean Up Day on 19 September 2026, staff and students at OVGU are invited to come together to collect litter on campus and in the surrounding area. We are looking for volunteers who would like to help. The necessary equipment will be provided on site.

This is a hands-on initiative organised by Support International @ the Faculty of Computer Science in collaboration with the Sustainability Office and EU GREEN.
Join now: kiplin Step Challenge – April 14 – May 5
As part of EU GREEN, the kiplin Step Count Challenge is returning to OVGU this year. The goal is to stay as active as possible this spring by walking and counting steps together with the partners of the EU GREEN Alliance. The challenge begins on April 14 and runs (literally) until May 5, 2026.
Planning new outdoor furniture for the campus – Get involved now!
At Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, students currently have the opportunity to actively participate in the design of two central campus areas. The focus is on the area surrounding the new student center and the site of the former barracks.
Plans include the purchase of new outdoor furniture to create attractive outdoor spaces for studying, relaxing, and socializing. A budget of €50,000 to €60,000 is available for this purpose. At the same time, ideas and feedback are being collected regarding the future use and design of the second area.
A presentation containing information on the current campus design and initial examples of potential furniture is available for participants. In addition, a PowerPoint template can be downloaded from the cloud, allowing participants to directly enter their own ideas, requests, and suggestions.
All students are invited to share their ideas and thus contribute to the further development of the campus. Completed submissions can be submitted by April 6.
Here’s how you can participate!
- Download the PowerPoint templates from the cloud here!
- First, learn about the two areas described and take a look at the outdoor furniture templates, then give us your feedback on the selection.
- Then design and plan the two areas using your ideas. How do you think these spots on campus should be designed? What kind of furniture with what functions would you like to see there? Feel free to use the templates in the PowerPoint, or get creative and look for other solutions.
- At the end, you can also provide us with additional feedback on the implementation.
- Save the PowerPoint file with the new name: Outdoormöbel_Campusgestaltung_*Name*.pptx and upload it back to the cloud or send it via email to: nachhaltigkeit@ovgu.de.
- You have until April 6 to participate in the planning!
